Why Usage Stats exceed the Daily Limit?

While both features in Kidsee relate to time, they serve two very different purposes. One is an active tool for setting rules, and the other is an informational report of your child's activity. Understanding the difference is key to getting the most out of Kidsee.

Screen Time Limit: Setting the Rules

This is your main control tool. It allows you to set a daily "time budget" for apps that are subject to restrictions. On your home screen, you'll see two numbers that represent this budget:

  • The first number (e.g., 0:43) shows how much of the daily limit your child has already used. This timer only counts time spent in restricted apps; it ignores any apps on your "Always Allowed" list.
  • The second number (e.g., 1:30) is the total limit you have set for the day.

When the first number reaches the second, Kidsee automatically blocks the restricted apps for the rest of the day.

Usage Stats: The Full Picture

This is your monitoring tool. It shows the total time your child's screen has been on, providing a complete picture of their digital day.

This number is usually higher than the time counted by the Screen Time Limit because it includes everything:

  • Time spent in "Always Allowed" apps.
  • Time spent on the device's home screen or in its settings.
  • Any other activity that doesn't count towards the daily limit.

In a Nutshell

  • Screen Time Limit is the rule you set for restricted apps.
  • Usage Stats is the report of all screen time on the device.
