My child is deleting Kidsee or turning it off on IOS device. What can I do?

It can be frustrating if your child finds a way to disable Kidsee by deleting the app or changing its permissions. The ability to do this depends entirely on one thing: whether your child is using a standard Apple ID or a Child Apple ID.

  • With a personal Apple ID, your child is the owner of the account and can always change settings or delete any app, including Kidsee.
  • With a Child Apple ID (as part of your Apple Family), these actions can be restricted by the parent, preventing the app from being tampered with.

Here is a step-by-step guide to check your setup and fix this for good.

Find Out Which Type of Apple ID Your Child Uses

1. On your parent's iPhone, open Settings.

2. Tap on Family.

3. Look for your child’s name in the list of family members.

4. Check the text directly under their name:

✅ If you see their age (e.g., "Age 13"), they are using a Child Apple ID. The app should be protected.

❌ If you see "Parent," "Guardian," “Adult” or nothing about their age, they are using a personal Apple ID.

❌ If your child is not in this list at all, they are not part of your Apple Family and are using a personal Apple ID.

The Solution: Create a Child Apple ID

If you've confirmed your child is not using a Child Apple ID, this is why they can delete the app. The solution is to create one for them.

How to Create a Child Apple ID:

1. On your parent's iPhone, go to Settings → Family.

2. Tap the "Add Member" icon in the top right corner.

3. Select "Create a Child Account" and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. You will need to enter your child's birth date, agree to the terms, verify your payment method (this is for parental consent, you won't be charged), and create their new Apple ID (email) and password.

Important: Reconnect Kidsee After Creating the Child ID

Once the new Child Apple ID is ready, you need to set it up on your child's device and then reconnect Kidsee.

1. On your child’s device, sign out of the old Apple ID (Settings → Tap the name at the top → Sign Out).

2. Now, sign in with the new Child Apple ID you just created.

3. Turn off existing Kidsee restrictions: Go to Settings → Screen Time → Kidsee and turn off the integration.

4. Delete the Kidsee app from the child's device.

5. Reinstall Kidsee from the App Store.

6. On your parent device, open Kidsee and connect the child's device again. The new Child Apple ID will now allow the permissions to be locked.

Why This is Necessary

Apple's security policies are designed to give the account owner full control. By using a Child Apple ID, you, the parent, become the manager of the account's core permissions. This is Apple’s official method for parents to secure these settings, ensuring apps like Kidsee work as intended and cannot be removed by the child.
